I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving, if you celebrate, with your family!

I’d been working on this one for a while and basically gave up, because I couldn’t find the right lighting or camera view (The original work was in full daylight). I let it sit for a few months and when I revisited this piece last week, I decided it might look better at night, under a full moon, with the moon reflecting off the water. I added lights to the windows, with some randomization of color to account for different people burning different types of candles, or perhaps a fireplace going hot. But even after all this, I still felt as if it were missing something in the foreground.

I had a great idea to add a boat, and suddenly it all came together! I especially love the bow light on the rowboat. And the sorceress herself is none other than Molim Meadowinds, a character in a current D&D adventure I am playing that is being DM’d by Christoper M. Cevasco. Molim made an appearance in my art “Sorceress of the Sun and Moon,” in which she stands proudly on the crinkle-crankle wall.

To finish it off, I did some touch ups with Photoshop, including: mist on the water, smoke from the chimneys, the two hawks, and a little noise and color correction. And I couldn’t be happier with the result!
