My novelette “Now We Paint Worlds”, out today on Tor.com is about a representative of a galactic-wide trade union sent to investigate the disappearance of three inhabited planets (of which her mother was living on one) and a rumor that a strange ascetic man there is somehow responsible.

This story takes place in my “numenverse” that includes stories such as “Still You Linger, Like Soot in the Air“, “The Last Novelist“, “Saving Diego“, “Truth is Like the Sun“, and two work-in-progress novellas.

Now We Paint Worlds” was edited by Ellen Datlow, and I’m always grateful for the opportunity to work with her.

I’m super excited about this story, my most optimistic science fiction to date. And there’s more to come after this. Not even close to done by far.
