Here’s a new render I did, which I call “Afternoon Walk.” After school and work, a mom takes her son to the lake to feed the birds, while the ring structure bends upward in the distance and Earth itself floats brightly nearby.

I see a lot of 3D sci-fi art that’s overwhelmingly dystopian. You know, gray, rainy, bleak, with rusted metal, hard edges, and no plants whatsoever anywhere. While some of that can be fun, I noticed a dearth of sci fi renders showing what some might term a solarpunk future: a healthy and happy future world.

My feeling is that if the prevailing view of the future is bleak, well, you won’t be surprised when that bleak future arrives. You also won’t clamor for change, because you expected things to be bleak. On the other hand, if there are alternative possible brighter futures in our collective psyche, perhaps we might work to bring them about, because they live in our imagination as visionary possibilities.

Anyway, I hope you like it!
