Just read “The songs of old earth”. Loved it. Would be a tough call between it and “Alive, oh, Alive” for the Nebula.

Thank you, Chris. Glad you enjoyed it!

Your welcome. Really liked the poignant ending, which I found hopeful. Also the imagery of the earth being carved up to make a new one was very vivid and original. And how you effectively worked in class distinctions into such a short story among other things. Also I live near a trail in Porter Ranch, CA with constant frog songs! I look forward to trying your other stories.

Checking out your list of titles on freesfonline.net I realize I had read The Last Novelist last year, loved that one too (and posted on tor.com at the time as Cmac). It would have been a close runner-up to Fandom for Robots as my pick for the Nebula. 2 for 2.
