Hello Fans & Friends of Fantastic Fiction at KGB,

We hope you are well.  If you haven’t already heard, Fantastic Fiction at KGB is holding a fundraiser through Kickstarter to keep our series going for another two or more years.

You likely already know about the popular reading series held on the third Wednesday of every month at the KGB Bar, 85 East Fourth Street in New York City.

Fantastic Fiction was founded in the late 1990s by author Terry Bisson and editor Alice K. Turner. Currently hosted by Ellen Datlow, multi-award winning editor of more than fifty science fiction, fantasy, and horror anthologies and myself, Matt Kressel, World Fantasy Award-nominated editor of Sybil’s Garage and author of more than twenty short stories, the series serves as a speculative fiction salon, featuring both luminaries and up-and-coming writers specializing in Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror and more.

Admission to the readings is *always* free. Readers are given a modest honorarium, plus free drinks and dinner at a local restaurant afterward. And our hard-working bartenders are given a small gratuity at the end of the readings. In the past, generous donations from Cemetery Dance Publications and raffle fundraisers have helped keep the series going. Now, your support can ensure that Fantastic Fiction at KGB continues to allow writers, editors, literary agents, and fans to meet and mingle each month in a friendly and casual atmosphere.

We’ve reached our primary goal of $3000, which will fund the series for two more years.  But we’d like to fund the series for longer without having to appeal again to the community. Each additional $1500 we receive will fund the series for another year.  Here is a breakdown of the amount donated and the length of time we will remain in funds:

$3000 – Until July 2015 (Goal met!)
$4500 – Until July 2016
$6000 – Until July 2017
$7500 – Until July 2018

We’d love to hit the second marker ($4500), but just reaching $3000 so early in the Kickstarter has made us all so very happy and grateful to have the support of the community.

We’ve assembled a wonderful collection of rewards, generously donated by our friends in the spec-fic family. They include Tuckerizations and book grab bags, original illustrations, fiction critiques and more. Backer’s names will be prominently displayed on the KGB website, where you can also find the schedule of upcoming readers:www.kgbfantasticfiction.org.

We’ll also be posting new rewards soon, and some are so tasty I wish I could say more.  Okay, I’ll give you a hint: we will soon be announcing rewards from Roger Zelazny (donated by Trent), Peter Straub, Cat Valente, Solaris Books, Ysabeau Wilce, Ben Loory, and more.

The Fantastic Fiction series at KGB represents a place of fellowship and community, where fans of speculative fiction can share their love of the genre. With your help, we can keep this important tradition going strong for many more years to come.

We thank you for your help, and invite you to join us, every third Wednesday, on Manhattan’s East 4th street.
